Case Study: How ADM Transformed Contractor Tracking
The Challenge
ADM faced significant challenges in tracking contractor productivity across its sites:
- Manual Reporting: Site managers relied on Excel spreadsheets to manually log contractors’ activities.
- Fragmented Processes: With multiple sites and large teams, data consolidation was a time-consuming weekly process.
- Delayed Insights: The manual nature of data manipulation caused delays in generating Power BI reports, which were crucial for improving site productivity.
ADM needed a unified solution that would enable real-time data collection and reporting to address these inefficiencies.
Client Overview
Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) is a global leader in food processing and commodities, operating across multiple sites worldwide. With a focus on operational efficiency, ADM sought to improve its contractor productivity tracking process to drive better decision-making and streamline reporting.
The Solution
In just two months, we developed a user-friendly Power App to streamline HR processes. This Canvas Application leverages Dataverse for secure data storage and integrates multiple Power Automates to handle business logic, such as notifications, reminders, and data processing.
The app dynamically assigns roles, directing users to appropriate screens based on their permissions. To ensure flexibility, we provided the HR team with an interface that allows them to configure change request types, including: fully configure change request types, including:
- Defining the list of questions (e.g., Effective Date, New Job Title, Manager, Department).
- Setting the data type for each question (Text, Number, Yes/No, DropDown, People Picker).
- Creating new change request types and selecting relevant questions.
- Specifying approval requirements (e.g., Line Manager, HR, Budget Holder).
- Customizing the help section for each change type, with content displayed on a side panel to guide users through their requests.
Processing time of the HR Requests was reduced from +5 Working Days
to an average of 2.5 hours.
